WORK YEAR:

• Starts 7/27/26, Last day 6/4/27 
• 167 Full days, Tuesday through Friday  +  33 short Mondays from 8 am to 1 pm

 

PAY & BENEFITS:

• Full-time, full year pay is between $55,000 and $82,100 annually – based on licensure level, education, and experience.
• This position is full-time and eligible for the full benefits package.
• Insurances include medical, dental, vision, prescription drug, life, disability, and specialty insurances for employees and their families.
• DATA pays 80% of the insurance premiums.
• For the pension benefit, employees pay 10.7% of all earnings into their retirement account, and DATA also pays 18.15% on all pay earned toward the employee’s retirement account!

Exemption Status: Exempt                                                                                     

Immediate Supervisors: Principal and Assistant Principal                                                 

 

SUMMARY: Teaches by creating a flexible program and an environment favorable to learning and personal growth; by encouraging students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to obtain a good foundation for continuous growth and development; by providing students with experiences which integrate the affective, cognitive and psychomotor dimensions of learning; by establishing effective rapport with students and their parents; by assisting students in developing positive feelings toward themselves and others.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES: Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:

 

• Arrives on time and is physically present consistently in order to maintain classroom continuity and fulfill essential functions and duties.
• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
• Cooperates in the development and implementation of the charter’s program of instruction.
• Plans and implements a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students and complies with State Department of Education Standards and individual student IEP plans, if appropriate.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, units and projects in harmony with curriculum goals and communicates the objectives to students.
• Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Establishes and maintains standards of appropriate student behavior and discipline as prescribed in the school handbook and IEP plans of each student, if applicable, and achieves a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom and assists in its maintenance campus-wide.
• Evaluates the learning progress of students on a regular basis.
• Prescribes effective learning programs and initiates referrals to appropriate personnel when concerns arise.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
• Administers standardized tests in accordance with the charter and state testing program.
• Establishes and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students' academic, social and behavioral progress.
• Selects and requests appropriate books and instructional materials and maintains required inventory records.
• Provides directions and materials for substitute teachers. Plans for and supervises any classroom aides, guests and volunteers and directs the activities of any assigned classroom Educational Assistant.
• Cooperates with staff and support personnel in assessing and helping students with health, attitude, learning and behavioral problems.
• Performs other tasks related to area of responsibilities as requested or assigned by an immediate supervisor.

 

• Complies with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, governing council policies, and local, state and federal regulations.
• Articulates and facilitates the implementation of the mission and values of Digital Arts & Technology Academy.
• Safeguards confidentiality of privileged information.
• Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, district policy and administrative regulations.
• Shares the responsibility for the supervision and care of school inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment and supplies, and reports safety hazards promptly.
• Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with other staff and the community.
• Maintains professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities and self-selected professional growth activities.
• Attends and/or conducts staff meetings and participates on committees within area of responsibility.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: The minimum expectations for this job are as follows:

 

• Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Flexibility, organization, decision making and problem solving skills.
• Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members and staff.
• Interpersonal skills with diverse populations, in-person and on the telephone.
• Awareness of school policies on medication, emergencies and child abuse/neglect.
• Awareness of laws, regulations and guidelines affecting teachers and students.
• Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects and coordinate the work of others.

 

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE: The minimum requirements for this job are as follows:

 

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Current New Mexico teaching certificate and endorsement in the area to be taught, if applicable; or an administration approved plan to secure such a license within 90 days of the date of hire.

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an incumbent encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

 

• The incumbent works with various staff members in a team environment including the administrative staff, fellow teachers, parents, students, and possibly others outside the school.
• Frequent interactions with people in-person, via email and on the phone will be necessary.
• Duties are performed indoors and outdoors in a normal school environment.
• Travel from location to location may be necessary.
• The employee will also meet with or escort students outdoors and will perform the essential functions of this job in a variety of buildings and locations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an incumbent to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation:

 

• The incumbent must occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds in supplies which requires bending, stooping and lifting.
