The Role: Impact & Responsibilities
As a Middle School Spanish Teacher at South Valley Academy, you will be a vital architect of our Heritage Bilingual Program. Your role goes beyond traditional foreign language instruction; you will foster linguistic pride and academic biliteracy for students who navigate multiple cultural and linguistic worlds. You will lead 4–5 sections of Spanish language arts and heritage pedagogy, ensuring that our students see their home languages as a professional and academic asset.
Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.

Licensure: Valid New Mexico teaching license with a Bilingual Endorsement and/or Modern & Classical Languages (Spanish) endorsement.

Experience: Proven background in middle school education with a specific focus on Heritage Language Learners.

Skills: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish (written and oral); familiarity with the WIDA Spanish Language Development Standards or similar frameworks; and a deep commitment to social justice through bilingual education.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $59,641.00 – $88,440.00 (L1-L3 salary schedule). We pay 80% of your health insurance premiums and provide retirement through the NMERB.
