Job Title: NMAMA Physical Education (PE) Teacher
Reports To: Executive Director/Principal
Position Type: Full-Time / Certified Teaching Position
Job Summary:
The NMAMA Physical Education (PE) Teacher promotes lifelong fitness, health, and well-being
by delivering a comprehensive physical education program to middle and high school students.
This role fosters skill development, teamwork, and personal responsibility through a variety of
sports, activities, and health-related instruction aligned with state and national standards.
Key Responsibilities:
? Plan and deliver engaging PE lessons that build physical skills, fitness, and healthy
habits
? Teach a variety of activities, including team sports, individual fitness, dance, and
cooperative games
? Differentiate instruction to meet diverse abilities and needs, including students with IEPs
or 504 plans
? Promote safety, respect, and positive sportsmanship in all class activities
? Assess and track student performance in physical fitness, participation, and skill
development
? Maintain and organize gym equipment and ensure a safe physical environment
? Collaborate with staff to support school-wide wellness initiatives and events
? Communicate regularly with students and families about class expectations and
progress
? Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as required
? Attend a minimum of 3 out of school functions, one of which must be graduation
? May include teaching Health Education
? Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Principal
Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or related field (Master’s
preferred)
? Valid state teaching certification in Physical Education (K–12 or secondary level)
? CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (required or willingness to obtain)
? Experience teaching adolescents in a school or youth program setting
? Strong classroom management and communication skills
? Commitment to promoting physical activity, inclusivity, and positive youth development
