Program Assistant – Adult Education (N4th Community Campus)

Gordon Bernell Charter School is seeking a highly organized, student-centered Program Assistant to support our Adult Education program at our North 4th campus. This role combines front office coordination, student onboarding, and administrative support to ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for adult learners.
This is a critical role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities, and is committed to supporting students overcoming barriers to education.
Schedule
This position requires consistent availability on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00pm–7:00pm to support Adult Education evening programming. Remaining hours will be scheduled in collaboration with the supervisor based on program needs.
Position Overview
The Program Assistant serves as the first point of contact for students while also managing key systems related to enrollment, assessment, and student progress. This role requires both strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain organized systems.
Key Responsibilities
Student Onboarding & Support

Support enrollment, orientation, and onboarding processes

Assist students in completing forms, setting goals, and understanding program expectations

Track student progress and support re-engagement efforts

Help coordinate testing, including TABE proctoring and GED/HiSET scheduling
Front Desk & Daily Operations

Greet students and visitors and manage incoming calls

Maintain attendance records and support follow-up communication

Ensure a welcoming, organized, and responsive front office environment
Administrative & Program Support

Provide administrative support to program leadership and staff

Maintain records across systems (LACES, Google Drive, etc.)

Support communication, outreach, and scheduling

Assist with reports, documentation, and internal systems

Highly organized and able to manage multiple systems simultaneously

Qualifications

Experience in administrative support, education, or student services preferred

Strong proficiency with Google Workspace and data entry systems

Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism

Experience working with adult learners or underserved populations preferred
