Are you passionate about community impact, civic engagement, and empowering young people to lead with purpose? South Valley Academy is seeking a dynamic Service Learning Teacher to join our team and help students become active change-makers in their communities.

Position Overview:
The Service Learning Teacher will design and lead a curriculum that blends academic learning with hands-on community involvement. This role is rooted in social justice and critical reflection, aiming to help students develop strong agency, real-world skills, and a deep understanding of the issues affecting their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a service learning curriculum aligned with academic and community goals.
• Collaborate with faculty to integrate service learning across disciplines.
• Cultivate and manage partnerships with local organizations to support student-led service projects.
• Organize student placements, site visits, and community-based research projects.
• Facilitate classroom discussions and structured reflection to deepen understanding of civic responsibility, equity, and social justice.
• Support students in designing and implementing projects that address real-world challenges.
• Maintain documentation of service hours, partner contributions, and student impact.
• Promote service learning through school-wide events and community presentations.
• Evaluate program effectiveness for continuous improvement and reporting

Ideal Candidate Qualities:

• A strong grounding in social justice, anti-racist, and anti-oppression frameworks.
• Experience in community engagement, project-based learning, or youth development.
• Commitment to helping students understand and dismantle systems of oppression.
• Ability to collaborate with students, staff, families, and local partners.
