Bilingual Instructional Coach (Middle School) & Testing Coordinator
JOB DESCRIPTION:

To support the school in the development of the 90/10 dual language program model, support the use of effective and research-based teaching strategies to develop a strong dual language program that supports student academic growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
|
|
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Middle School 50/50 dual language model and dual language program curriculum alignment plan required hours
- Train Teachers in the development and implementation of Curriculum Alignment for English and Spanish Language Development best practices using WIDA State Standards
- Mentor new and developing teachers in curriculum implementation for DL programs, lesson planning, student data collection (iMSSA Short Cycle Assessment), GLAD, AVID, the Reading Apprenticeship, MLSS, SAT, etc.
- Identify targeted literacy and/or math intervention strategies to support teachers in supporting individual or small groups of students using high quality researched based strategies and resources aligned to Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and appropriate for bilingual students.
- Support teachers in the use of data to assist with identifying or selecting the most at-risk students for placement within intervention groups
- Participate in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progress or program needs.
- Support in assessing student achievement through screening, progress monitoring and use of appropriate diagnostic tools and maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student growth
- Support/Model continuous academic achievement of students and strategic planning

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:

Preferences: Master's Degree in Administration, Bilingual and TESOL Endorsements, Specialized training in GLAD, AVID and the Reading Apprenticeship.

REQUIREMENTS:
|
Minimal Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Valid Level 2 or 3 New Mexico teaching license, Certified in Language Arts. Ten years teaching experience in an elementary, middle or high school bilingual setting (combination). Demonstrate extensive knowledge in core academic subject matter for grades 5-8, GLAD, AVID and the Reading Apprenticeship. Knowledge of State and District content standards. Currently highly qualified at the level of the position, K-8 Elementary teaching license.
