Public Charter Schools of New Mexico (PCSNM) is seeking a CSP Fiscal Coordinator to play a key role on the PCSNM team to expand the organization’s ability to successfully implement New Mexico’s Charter School Program (CSP). IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate for the position of Fiscal Coordinator for PCSNM’s CSP grant should possess a strong financial background and familiarity with federal grant regulations. They should be detail oriented, organized, and capable of overseeing budget planning, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring compliance with federal guidelines. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential, as the Fiscal Coordinator will need to work closely with subgrantees, the Deputy Director and Grant Manager to report financial progress effectively. Additionally, this candidate should have a strong work ethic and thrive in a fast-paced, results driven environment, excelling under pressure while managing several projects and motivated by high expectations. Finally, the ideal candidate will be committed to supporting educational charter school initiatives and have the ability to contribute to the efficient and accountable allocation of grant funds.

 

CSP FISCAL COORDINATOR ROLE

This is a full-time position that reports directly to the Deputy Director. PCSNM is a hybrid work environment, and the CSP Fiscal Coordinator must be able to report on workdays in our Albuquerque office at least 2 days a week. The position includes flexible scheduling, generous time off, and a competitive benefits package, including health insurance and a matching 401K program. Salary will be determined commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor subgrantee spending to ensure reimbursement requests are adequately substantiated, consistent with approved budgets and Allowable Cost Guide, and compliant with all federal and state regulations.

• Partner with CSP Grants Manager and Deputy Director

• Host Budget Support Webinars and office hours during the subgrant competition window

• Conduct Capacity Interviews of prospective subgrantees to assess their fiscal readiness

• Review cumulative awards and compare against grant goals

• Provide technical assistance on value-added budgeting and allowable costs

• Review reimbursement requests and monitor drawdowns

• Hold subgrantee monitoring meetings

• Conduct monitoring site visits

• Create and monitor adherence to Corrective Action Plans

• Conduct interim desk reviews

• Review Annual Performance and Financial Reports

• Other tasks as required

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates will possess most of the following characteristics:

• 3 – 5 years of work experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and/or an analytical role with a finance focus;

• Strong understanding of finance principles;

• Extensive familiarity with QuickBooks or a similar accounting program;

• Problem solver who is eager to grow and learn and is proficient in bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles;

• Experience managing or working with or under a federal grant;

• Strong organizational skills

• Work in a school, education non-profit, or education-adjacent organization;

• Familiarity with federal education grants;

• Strong written and oral communication skills;

• Commitment to follow through with complex processes;

• Collaborative team player;

• High expectations and a focus on results;

• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;

• Professional experience in accounting, auditing, finance management preferred; Professional experience in school finance preferred.

• Knowledge of policies and procedures based on federal and state requirements that ensure fiscal compliance.
