Full-time Special Education Teacher or general education teacher with the interest to expand qualifications into special education needed for the Metropolitan Detention Center campus.
Gordon Bernell’s high school program provides an opportunity for students ages 16-21 to complete high school and make plans towards their next steps post graduation. Our credit recovery program is grounded in a comprehensive advisory model that individualizes learning plans for every student to meet their academic needs and takes into consideration barriers that often make more traditional programs inaccessible.
The ideal candidate will:
- Recognize flexibility and teamwork are necessary to implementing individualized interventions and providing targeted support to chronically underserved populations.
- Be organized enough to track each student on their individual journey to build skills, complete credits and make progress towards graduation
- Be Interested in working with the SPED team to prepare and implement IEPs
- Have the desire to engage with students to overcome complex challenges and find success in education.
Qualifications:
- Current PED Secondary Teaching License or the ability to obtain one with school support
- Current SPED license or the willingness to obtain one with school support.
- Current background check required
