Summary of position:
The Elementary Bilingual Teacher is a licensed instructional professional responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality instruction for students assigned to their roster, in alignment with NMIS’s mission, International Baccalaureate (IB) framework, bilingual education model, and Multi-Layered System of Supports (MLSS). Classroom Teachers are responsible for implementing instructional programs, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment, and collaborating with school leadership and instructional support staff to support student growth and wellbeing.
Certification/Educational Qualifications:
- Current New Mexico PED-issued teaching license
- Bilingual Education endorsement
Essential functions:
- IB Program Knowledge & Implementation - Must understand and deliver instruction aligned to International Baccalaureate (PYP or MYP) frameworks and New Mexico state standards
- MLSS (Multi-Layered System of Support) Experience - Required to implement Layers 1-2 interventions, progress monitoring, and data-driven instructional decisions
- Lesson Planning & Assessment - Develop unit/lesson plans, administer various assessments, and analyze student data to inform instruction
- Classroom Management & Student Supervision - Establish positive learning environments and supervise students across various settings (indoor/outdoor, transitions, activities)
- Special Education Compliance - Participate in IEP/504/SAT meetings and implement required accommodations and behavior intervention plans
- Professional Collaboration - Work effectively with grade-level teams, participate in PLCs, and engage in ongoing professional development
- Family Communication - Conduct regular parent communication, conferences, and provide timely progress reports
- Bilingual Assessment Capability - Administer bilingual assessments as applicable to student population
- Substitute Planning & Leave Management - Maintain emergency lesson plans and follow proper absence protocols to ensure instructional continuity
- Technology Proficiency - Use designated systems for leave requests, grade reporting, and maintaining accurate instructional records
Compensation:
Salaried according to placement on NMIS Teacher Salary Schedule: $65,000 - $93,000
Stipend: Bilingual Education Endorsement: $3,500
