Instructional Coach – Secondary (N4th & MDC Campuses)
Salary: Based on GBCS salary schedule; NM PED Level III license required
Gordon Bernell Charter School is seeking an experienced Instructional Coach to support teachers across our community and corrections-based campuses. This role is central to strengthening curriculum, improving instructional practice, and increasing student outcomes in a re-engagement model.
This is a non-evaluative role. All staff supervision and accountability remain with the Principal. The Instructional Coach works in partnership with the Principal to support instructional improvement and implementation of schoolwide priorities.
Work Environment This position is based at our North 4th (community) campus and includes work across both community and corrections-based settings. The MDC campus refers to our program located within the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center.
The Instructional Coach will be expected to support instructional staff in both environments and must be comfortable working within a secure facility as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and strengthen current curriculum; support new curriculum adoption
- Provide job-embedded, non-evaluative coaching (modeling, co-planning, feedback)
- Support consistent implementation of instruction across classrooms
- Lead/support PLCs and instructional professional development
- Collaborate with the Principal to align coaching with schoolwide goals

Qualifications
- Current NM PED Level III Teaching License (required)
- Demonstrated record of effective teaching
- Coaching or teacher leadership experience preferred
- Experience in alternative, re-engagement, or corrections-based settings preferred
