The Role: Impact & Responsibilities As a Special Education Teacher, you will be the primary advocate and instructional lead for students with diverse learning needs. You won't just be managing paperwork; you'll be co-teaching in inclusive classrooms and building bridges to the general education curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Leadership: Design and deliver differentiated instruction through co-teaching models and specialized small-group sessions.
- Case Management: Lead the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring all legal compliance and student goals are met.
- Collaboration: Work side-by-side with general education teachers and support staff to create an environment where every student thrives.
- Progress Monitoring: Use data-driven insights to track student growth and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Family Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact for families, fostering a collaborative partnership between home and school.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Valid New Mexico K-12 Special Education License (or documented
eligibility for reciprocity).
- Expertise: Proven ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
- Compliance: Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
- Soft Skills: Strong collaborative spirit and excellent communication skills.

- Salary Range: $59,641.00 – $88,440.00 (L1-L3 salary schedule).
