Middle School Counselor

 

The ASK Academy (Attitudes, Skills, and Knowledge), a 6 th -12 th grade charter school in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, is a STEM innovation school with a project-based approach to teaching and learning and has been noted as among the top 10% of high schools in the nation by the U.S. News and World Report two years ago. The 575 scholars follow one of two career pathways—Biomedical Sciences or Engineering and Design.

 

The ASK Academy has entered its second decade and is searching for a part-time Middle School Counselor. The position is available for the 2025-2026 school year.

 

The salary for this position will vary depending on license and years of experience in accordance with our approved salary schedule.

 

? Advises and counsels scholars regarding short-term social and emotional problems.

? Provides individual scholar planning and responsive services to support scholars and their families regarding social/academic matters.

? Teaches guidance classes and provides guidance counseling to scholars through planned activities in small group or classroom settings to convey educational, social, and important school information, and offers workshops/seminars for parents.

? Consults facilitate and maintain communication with parents, teachers, administrators, and pertinent agents on specific student and parent social and emotional matters.

? Provides feedback and recommends appropriate action and solutions to individual students’ social and emotional needs.

? Participates with counseling team to identify scholars who may need targeted or intensive services, and coordinates with behavioral health specialists.

? Assists students/parents in understanding school policies and procedures.

? Provides brief counseling to address social and emotional concerns and appropriately refers scholars to behavioral health specialists.

? Communicates, coordinates, and collaborates with behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing student supports.

? Supports and attends appropriate scholar activities and events.
